Richard Gentilucci
Director of Construction Projects
Mr. Gentilucci is Director of Construction Projects of Modern Commercial., a full spectrum brokerage dedicated in assisting
organizations to achieve the greatest value for their real estate portfolio. With expertise in strategic analysis, deal sourcing,
development planning and management, and knowledge of debt and equity sources to fund projects, Gentilucci delivers a powerful
punch – helping his clients achieve their real estate investment goals.
Gentilucci was formerly the Managing Director of Shamrock Capital Advisors, Inc., the investment arm of the Roy E. Disney family.
At Shamrock, his responsibilities included over-sight of all aspects of development, construction, leasing and asset management of
the Disney family’s real estate assets. In his 20 years with Shamrock, He held profit and loss responsibility for the entire real estate
portfolio owned by the Disney family and its investors. Gentilucci directed the development and repositioning of more than $1 billion
worth of real estate, and negotiated the lease of two million square feet of office and industrial projects owned by the family.
While at Shamrock Capitol Advisors, Gentilucci also led the creation and implementation of an $85 million equity real estate fund,
and a $100 million follow-on real estate equity fund. The first of these funds, the Genesis LA Real Estate Fund, was the first in the
nation to co-invest with developers in commercial projects in low and moderate-income neighborhoods. As the Managing Director
of the fund, Gentilucci sourced, raised, invested and managed the fund to achieve “double bottom line” returns – projects that were
successful as investments with returns in excess of 20% IRR, and also successful in terms of community development and job
creation. The fund became a model for other regional investment funds throughout the nation.
Prior to working with Shamrock, Mr. Gentilucci spent 13 years working in construction and real estate development. Through his
firm Gentilucci Contracting he offered real estate advisory and general contracting services. With one of his largest clients,
Emergency Physicians, he built Urgent Care Centers throughout the nation. The development arm of his company built residential
projects in Northern California. Mr. Gentilucci also spent eight years working directly for general contractors as a project manager,
estimating costs and managing projects.
Gentilucci works with private and institutional clients, but also takes pride in providing critical services to non-profits. Non-profits
often have tremendous assets and resources that are underutilized. Historically, they have received below market returns on their
real estate and development deals. Mr. Gentilucci works as a champion for his non-profit clients, assuring their real estate assets
are well managed and profitable, and allow the organization to remain focused on daily operations.
Gentilucci holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Arizona State University. He has been licensed as a
general contractor, and is currently licensed as a real estate broker and a financial lender. He is a member of the Urban Land
Institute and serves as Chairman of the Urban Market-Place Los Angeles. Gentilucci sits on the Executive Committee for the USC
Lusk Real Estate Center, and has served as a Governor for The Children’s Museum of Los Angeles. Gentilucci is an arbitrator and
mediator for the American Arbitration Association.
